SOCA BEAT presents The SUB Tractor Corner #16: Xilent – Do It
When one year ago Xilent produced “Choose Me EP”, the bass music world certainly don’t stopped. Since then, he started to remix artists like Sub Focus, J Majik & Wickman, and to play in the most important festivals made in UK, as Ram at Fabric. In all of this, he also find the time to produce a new work: “Ultrafunk EP”, released by AudioPorn Records.
But, who’s Xilent?
Eryk Kowalczyk, born in Warsaw, is considered as one of the most exciting hottest talents in the Drum and Bass scene today. Growing up with funk & soul background, with his mother being a qualified conductor, cellist and pianist, and his father a drummer and singer in various bands, Eryk was constantly surrounded by music in many different forms. When he discovered the world of dnb, he started to dedicate his time to produce digital music.
His current sound has a lot of influences: from breakbeat to trance, up to techno bass and dizzying and asymmetrical sinth style. “Ultrafunk” is a 4 four-track EP, characterized by 170 bpm, that has quickly become as one of the most played in british radio channels.
“Do It”, the first single, starts with hushed and silently atmosphere, that just make you catch your breath before it dump to you all the thrills and the warmth that it can unleash. The synth pulses beat after beat: soul, love and artistic expression .
As a dawn before a departure.
